According to United Nations estimates, over 700,000 people are trafficked every year. This advert shows the reality faced by many women who are conned into moving abroad with the promise of a good job and then forced into prostitution and subject to violence.
Inhuman Traffic - MTV
Inhuman Traffic is a fast-moving and compelling documentary presented by Angelina Jolie that provides an introduction to the human rights tragedy of trafficking of women and girls for sexual exploitation in Europe. The programme juxtaposes interviews with trafficking victims such as Tatiana, who was sold as a prostitute by her boyfriend and other links in the trafficking chain, such as a young man who pays for sex, a potential victim and an anti-trafficking police officer.
Parallel Lives - MTV Short Films
Featuring supermodel Helena Christensen, Gavin Rossdale of rock bands "Bush" and "Institute", and Howlin' Pelle Almqvist of Swedish punk rock band "The Hives".
"Parallel Lives" is a unique series of five short films about human trafficking. Each instalment of features a recreated, "normal-life" situation on one side, cut back-and-forth with the directly-contrasting stories of trafficking victims. Highlighting some of the most important issues and dispelling some of the many myths.
