Trafficking Victim Assistance Center in Moscow
The Angel Coalition Trafficking Victim Assistance Center (TVAC) - is the national hub of rescue/repatriation operations in Russia. The Angel Coalition TVAC and its network of 9 regional safe house partners currently functions as the hub of rescue, repatriation and rehabilitation activities for Russian trafficking victims - a complex operation requiring close liaisons with Russian and international government agencies, law enforcement and NGOs focusing on all aspects of counter-trafficking. Russian Toll-Free Helplines - the lifeline for victims to the Trafficking Victims Assistance Center (TVAC).
The TVAC is designed as a global response center for Russian speaking trafficking victims. Toll-free numbers have been available for Russia since 2003 and international toll-free numbers from a limited number of countries since 2004. In November 2004, MiraMed Institute and the Angel Coalition Trafficking Victim Assistance Center opened Russia 's first and only 24-hour national and international toll-free help-lines for trafficking victims. Network of Shelters
Safe houses have been started to receive trafficking victims rescued by the TVAC. The projects provide shelter and psychological counseling, assist in repatriation, and facilitate access to medical and legal services for trafficking victims. Click here to read more...
Government & Police Training
Between August 2004 and April 2005, the Angel Coalition, together with MiraMed Institute (USA) and Kvinnoforum (Sweden) and local NGOs in each city, organized five high-level regional anti-trafficking conferences in Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Murmansk, and Yaroslavl. The training conferences were funded by the Office to Combat and Monitor Trafficking in Persons (TIP) of the U.S. Department of State and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). Information Campaigns
The Angel Coalition, a consortium of 43 Russian NGO's, launched an intensive 100 day anti-trafficking campaign in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Petrozavodsk and Velikiy Novgorod with simultaneous press conferences at all six sites. Click here to read more...
Embassy Training
A two-day seminar is offered to embassies to help visa sections of foreign embassies understand how traffickers work, the Moscow office of the Angel Coalition has developed an embassy training program.
