MAKE A DONATION
The Angel Coalition needs financial, material, and volunteer support. The 61-member Angel Coalition network is made up of small, independent NGOs whose annual budgets rarely exceed $10,000. You can wire your contribution directly to the Angel Coalition in Russia or, alternatively, make a tax deductible contribution to the U.S.-registered public charity MiraMed Institute (100% of your donation will go to the Angel Coalition, and we will provide a report on how your contribution was used). We need phone lines, fax and computer equipment, funds to print educational materials that can be distributed to girls and women, funds to enable NGO members to travel for training and of course, to be paid their small salaries to continue their vital work.

Here is some information presented by interns and volunteers who recently worked with the Angel Coalition:
SHONDA WERRY: "I am an undergraduate at the University of Chicago , preparing to graduate this spring. Last year while I was studying abroad at Moscow State University , I interned at the Angel Coalition. My internship there was a great learning experience, and a wonderful opportunity to help with Angel Coalition's anti-trafficking projects. During my internship I interviewed college women at Moscow State University and translated health documents for women. After volunteering at the Angel Coalition office, I interned in Washington , DC on Capitol Hill and assisted Senator Brownback's office with his anti-sex trafficking initiatives.
This year I am writing my BA thesis on sex trafficking in the Russian Federation and am using the research I did at the Angel Coalition".
ANNA OSBORNE: "During my postgraduate studies in International Relations I took modules in migration studies and therefore decided to write my thesis on the trafficking of women from Russia to the EU. For this purpose my internship was an invaluable experience in helping put theoretical learning into a practical context. The responsibilities given to me at the Angel Coalition were diverse and interesting. One of the highlights of the internship for me was participating in an international conference on anti-trafficking work."
ANDREEA HOLTD: "I have been interning at the Angel Coalition's head office in Moscow since October 24, 2003. I graduated in May 2003 from Pacific Lutheran University with a double major of Scandinavian Studies and Global Studies with a focus in International Relations. As I researched for various papers while completing my International Relations courses, I learned about the issue of trafficking. My senior year I chose to write my thesis on the social and economical factors which I see as the main contributing factors behind the problem of social orphans in post-communist Russia . While doing research for this huge assignment I found the attached documents on MiraMed's and the Angel Coalition's websites very helpful, and decided to contact them. Already very interested in and proficient in a number of languages including Swedish, Norwegian, intermediate French, I felt that an internship with Angel Coalition would work very well for me in that I could work for a cause that interested me greatly, and of which I already knew a lot about, but also I could improve my Russian language skills by living in Russia.
Over the course of the past four months I have done a variety of tasks including database research, grants researching, translating articles from foreign press about trafficking in other countries ( Sweden and Norway ), making contacts with foreign anti-trafficking organizations, contacted embassies and set up meetings for future projects. I also attended different events such as " Let's Go to Paris" the anti-trafficking puppet play targeted at young girls assisting the production at various sites, as well as attending the first all-Russian anti-trafficking conference in which Colin Powell was a guest speaker.
The experience of interning at the Angel Coalition will benefit me greatly in the future whether I decide to pursue a career in another NGO working with women's or human rights in general, or doing social work with Russian immigrants in America. I learned a great deal about the inner workings of a growing NGO, and my time spent here was very valuable. I am also very interested in continuing my education in the Russian language and going on to becoming a translator. It was a very positive experience that I will never forget."
